Lyons Fleas move into the championship round with wins over Glynn, Ware & Pooler,

The Lyons Fleas celebrate their win over Pooler

Early in the game the Lyons Fleas were down 7-2, but the All Stars rallied and entering the bottom of the fifth they were leading 14-9 and were seeking a run rule victory over Pooler.

Parker Stanley (2-for-4) singled to left field and Riley Kersey (3-for-4 with 2 RBI) singled to left center, however, Stanley was thrown out at the plate. Trevor White (4-for-4 with 4 RBI) singled to left center and Slade McDonald (2-for-4 with 2 RBI) singled to left scoring Kersey. Chandler Smith (2-for-4 with 1 RBI) singled to left center scoring White to put Lyons up 16-9.

Lyons still needed one more run to end the game early. Brody Randle (3-for-4 with 2 RBI) stepped to the plate and he singled up the middle allowing McDonald to score from second base to give Lyons a 17-9 win in five innings.

Waycross- Flea Boys (8 under)- Lyons 13, Ware County 9

The Lyons Fleas knocked off the home team with a 13-9 win over Ware County. M.J. Burton went 3-for-4, Slade McDonald 2-for-3 and Tyson Brantley 2-for-4.

Head coach John McDonald says the All Stars struggled a little with their hitting, but they made some fine defensive plays. Riley Kersey, Parker Stanley and M.J. Burton each had two hits. Burton, who plays third base, made a spectacular play getting to a ball hit in the hole, shortstop Tyson Brantley handled a hard hit ball and second baseman Slade McDonald made a diving catch.

Lyons will play the host team Ware County on Wednesday at noon. On Tuesday Ware beat Thomasville YMCA 20-8 and shutout Dalton 20-0. Camden County took care of Moultrie 29-17 and Pooler nipped Vidalia 19-18.
