The Toombs County Bulldog baseball team was able to break their six game losing streak by beating the East Laurens Falcons in Game 1 of the series 12-2.
In the first, TCHS scored three on some pitching errors. A few batters were hit and some walked, a couple of passed balls by the Falcon’s catcher and the Bulldogs were able to score.
In the second, TCHS scored four. Junior Bryson Stanley walked and after a fly out Senior Chandler Lynn was up to bat and had a double. Senior Chase Musselman was hit by a pitch and Senior Gray Stephens walked which brought in a run. Freshman Trayvone Harris was also walked and that scored another run. Junior Jason Dukes hit into a fielder’s choice and that scored the third run of the inning. Freshman Brantley Upshaw had an RBI single that drove in the fourth run.
The Bulldogs scored a run in the third and fourth. In the third, Musselman had an RBI single that scored a run and in the fourth, Upshaw had an RBI.
In the fifth, the Bulldogs decided to end it early by scoring three runs in the fifth which brought the run rule into effect. Senior Foster Jones reached on a base hit and Lynn reached on a walked. Stephens reached on a base hit and Harris walked scoring a run. Dukes had a two run RBI single that ended the game.
Senior Chase Musselman pitched. He threw five complete innings and only allowed two hits, gave up three walks and struck out three.
Right now the Bulldogs are 3-7 on the region and 11-11 overall.
The Bulldogs are currently sitting at fifth in the region. In order to go to the playoffs you have to be in the top four. In order to move up the Bulldogs have to sweep the Falcons and at least win two against the Tigers next week.
The Bulldogs will be traveling to East Dublin for Game 2 on Thursday which starts at 5:30 weather permitting. The game will be live on Y-101 and streamed on our YouTube page.
