After coming off a loss from thirty minutes earlier, the Bulldogs knew the Raiders had already taken the series but the Bulldogs were needing to end the five game losing streak. TCHS was unable to do so and extended their losing streak to six games after an 8-7 loss to the Raiders in game three.
The Raiders jumped on top of the Bulldogs early in game three 2-0 in the first. Bacon scored two earned runs on an RBI by Drew Elrod and an RBI by Jackson Conner. The Bulldogs were plagued by strikeouts in the first and the Raiders recored all three outs in that inning on K’s.
The Raiders scored another in the third on a passed ball by the catcher. In the fifth, both the Raiders and Bulldogs scored two. The Raiders increased their lead to 5-0 on a two run RBI by Brady Cothern. The Bulldogs scored on a sacrifice fly by Senior Chandler Lynn. That scored Senior Foster Jones who went 2-3 in the game. The Bulldogs scored another run on a Raider defensive error. It was 5-2 after the fifth.
Neither team scored in the sixth. The seventh is when it got wild. The Raiders scored three in the top of the seventh.
Leadoff hitter Mason Mikell hit a two run homer and the Raiders scored another on a Bulldog defensive error. TCHS tried at a comeback in the bottom of the seventh. The team scored five runs. Junior Kodie Cortez reached on an error and Lynn reached on a walk. Senior Chase Musselman had an RBI single to score Cortez. Freshman Trayvon Harris had an RBI single scoring Musselman. During Harris’s at bat, Lynn scored on a passed ball. Freshman Brantley Upshaw scored a run on a sacrifice grounder. During Senior Alex Gordy’s at bat, Raider pitcher Brady Cothern baulked and that scored a run for the Bulldogs. The game ended on a strikeout and the Bulldogs lost 8-7.
Senior Chase Musselman pitched 6 1/3 innings. He allowed six hits and seven runs – three were earned. He had four walks and six strikeouts.
Sophomore Lucas O’Conner came in and finished the seventh for TCHS on the mound.
The Bulldogs are now 10-11 overall and 2-7 in region play.
