The Toombs County Bulldog baseball team began another region series and was on the road in Alma to face off against the Bacon County Raiders. The Bulldogs lost to the Raiders 4-2.
TCHS missed some opportunities in the game to score runs. In the top of the first, the Bulldogs had the bases loaded on walks and could not capitalize on the opportunity. The Raiders however, scored two runs in the bottom of the first on four base hits. Raider pitcher Trey Thomas had a two run RBI double. The game was 2-0 until the bottom of the fourth when Bacon scored another when leadoff hitter Mason Mikell had a sacrifice grounder scoring a run.
The Bulldogs got on the board in the fifth. Senior Chandler Lynn walked and Seniors Chase Musselman and Gray Stephens each had base hits. Freshman Trayvon Harris scored a run on a sacrifice fly. Senior Alex Gordy had a RBI single scoring another. The game was 3-2 going into the bottom of the fifth. Bacon scored a run in the fifth on a RBI single by Terriyon Moore.
The Bulldogs were unable to score anymore and the Raiders took the game and improved their record to 9-7 overall and 5-2 on the Region.
TCHS is now 10-9 overall and 2-5 on the Region.
TCHS will face off against the Raiders in game two at home on Thursday, April 8 with the first pitch at 5:45. The game will be live on Y-101 100.9 and streamed on our YouTube page.
