Chandler Lynn keeps rolling along for the Bulldog wrestling team

Chandler Lynn gets his hand raised after his quarterfinal win

Toombs County High School junior Chandler Lynn excels in three sports for the Bulldogs. During the fall he is a wide receiver and a liinebacker for the football team. In the spring he is the starting center fiielder and a tough left-handed stick. In between those two sports Chandler wrestles in the 160 pound weight class. In other words he has very few days off from August to May.

In the last two weekends- on the mat- Lynn has won an Area 1 Championship and finished first in the GHSA Class 2A Section A Tournament. On Thursday Chandler was in the Macon Centreplex wrestling in the state tournament. He had a bye in the first round and then in the quarterfinals he defeated Ty Morris (Bremen) 9-7 to move into the semifinals. Chandler will take on LaQuize Gilbert from Callaway. Gilbert won 8-2 and 5-2 to advance to the semifinals. That match will be on Friday at 2 p.m.

Five other Bulldogs are competing in Macon and all four enter Friday’s action in the consolation bracket. Jose Balderos, Blake Hall, Arael Rodriguez, Tank Morris and Devante Willis all still have a chance to be a state placer and finish as high as third place.

106- Jose Balderos won his first match with a third period pin and then lost 7-6 in the quarterfinals. He moves to the consolation bracket.

132- Blake Hall- was pinned in the first round and in the consolation bracket he received a bye.

138- Arael Rodriguez won his first match 15-5 and then lost in the quarterfinals 11-9. He  moves to the consolation bracket.

160- Chandler Lynn had a bye and then in the quarterfinals he defeated Ty Morris (Bremen) 9-7 to move into the semifinals.

170- Tank Morris won his first match 5-3 and then was pinned in the second period. He moves to the consolation bracket.

285- Devante Willis had a bye and then was pinned in the quarterfinals. He moves to the consolation bracket.
