In the summer back in the 90’s Josh Reddick- from Effingham County- would travel to Partin Park with his Rincon teammates to play in the Lyons Youth Tournament. On October 15, 2019 Reddick was in Yankee Stadium for game 3 of the ALCS and in the second inning the former South Effingham Mustang hit a solo home run to put his Houston Astros up 2-0, Houston won the game 4-1 to take a 2-1 lead in the best of seven series.
The winner of the ALCS takes on the Washington Nationals in the World Series.
Reddick isn’t the only player to go from Partin Park to the big leagues. From Toombs County Don Collins, Vince Faison and Jeremy Beasley have all played against major league competition. Collins pitched for the Atlanta Braves while Faison went to spring training with the Oakland A’s and Beasley pitched for the Los Angles Angels as a starter in a spring training game against the San Diego Padres. Also former Atlanta Braves pitcher Mccay McBride, Dustin McGowan (Toronto, Philadelphia, Miami), Barrett Browning (St. Louis) and Minnesota’s Byron Buxton have played at Partin Park and in the big leagues.
