D.R. strokes a double against the SEC’s Auburn Tigers

Former Toombs County Bulldog D.R. Meadows was the starting third baseman and leadoff hitter for the Columbus State Cougars in an exhibition game against the SEC’s Auburn Tigers. A sellout crowd of 1,492 watched the game in Columbus which was won by the Tigers 9-3.

Meadows, who went 1-for-4, stroked a double down the left field line off a 1-0 pitch from sophomore Richard Fitts. D.R. advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Marietta’s Isaac Bouton. That run tied the game at 2 in the bottom of the third.

D.R. also popped up to second base on a 1-1 pitch in the first inning, reached on an error by the third baseman on a 2-2 pitch in the fifth and grounded out to second base on a 3-1 pitch in the eighth.
