Jeremy Beasley continues to pile up scoreless innings in his second season in the AA Southern League. In a start at Biloxi he blanked the Shuckers in four out of the 5 1/3 innings he pitched. Unfortunately, he yielded three runs in the second and two in the sixth in the Mobile BayBears 7-1 loss.
Beasley’s record dropped to 6-7 and his ERA is now 4.06 after allowing six hits and five earned runs with five strikeouts and one walk.
With his four shutout frames against Biloxi, this season 80-of-his-101 (79.2%) complete innings have been shutout innings. For his career 187 of Jeremy’s 236 complete innings have been shutout innings for a percentage of 79.2%.
Jeremy retired Biloxi three-up, three-down in the first on pop ups to short and first base and a strikeout looking.
The Shuckers sent seven batters to the plate in the second inning. Three doubles and a walk turned into three Biloxi runs. Two swinging strikeouts and a ground out to second ended the frame.
An 11-pitch third inning to three Shuckers included two fly balls to center field sandwiched around a pop up to first base.
Jeremy was even more efficient in the fourth inning retiring three batters on just seven pitches. Grounders to third and short and a fly ball to center took care of Biloxi.
In the fifth inning the first two Shuckers reached on a single and a hit batsman. Beasley ended the scoring threat striking out two batters looking and inducing a fly to center.
Beasley recorded his final out of the game with a fly ball to left to open up the sixth. A single and a two-run home run to center field off the bat of Bruce Caldwell ended Jeremy’s night in Mississippi.
