9 Bulldog wrestlers score a 4th place finish

Despite fielding only nine wrestlers in 14 weight classes the Toombs County Bulldogs finished fourth in a 19 team tournament in the St. Nick Invitational at Richmond Hill.

106 pounds-4th place- Jose Balderos received two byes was pinned in the first period and then came back in the consolation bracket with a second period pin before losing to Brayden Adams (Islands High School) 5-4 in the third place match.

113 pounds- 2nd place- Martin Santana received two byes and pinned his next two opponents in 50 seconds and in the second round before losing to Brunswick’s Trent Burke 16-4 in the championship match.

120 pounds- 2nd place- Cruz Arredondo received two byes, recorded a 71 second pin, a 23-6 majority decision victory and 3-2 win before losing to Dylan Lesueur (Thompson) 15-4 in the championship match.

132 pounds- 1st place- Two-time defending state champion and three-time state placer Ricardo Santana improved his record to 27-0 in his senior season by winning his weight class. 

After two byes, Ricardo pinned an opponent with five seconds left in the first period, pinned another opponent in the third period and then in the semifinals pinned a guy just 49 seconds into the match. In the championship match he executed a 4-2 win over Emmanuel Oliver from Thompson.

145 pounds- 4th place- Jaden Banks followed two byes with a pin with two seconds left in the second period and a 16-0 majority decision victory. He was pinned 47 seconds in and then moved to the consolation bracket where he won 5-2 before losing to Dylan Tucker (Richmond Hill) 9-5 in the third place match. 

285 pounds- 3rd place- Rolondo Tinoco received two byes and then pinned an opponent in 53 seconds and won 8-1 before losing 16-10. In the consolation bracket Rolondo pinned a guy in the second round and then he pinned Joe Fusile (Richmond Hill) in the second round to take third place.
