JV Bulldogs shutout Tattnall County and earn their first win of the season

Last season it took a big defensive play for the Toombs County Junior Varsity football team to edge Tattnall County 16-14 in Reidsville. The Bulldogs turned an inside running play outside and then freshman D.J. Mincey made the tackle in the end zone for a safety to break the 14-all tie with 3:24 left in the game. In the rematch in Lyons, the Bulldogs didn’t need a late defensive play to pull out the victory because they were playing tough defense from the start. Josiah Smith, Bryson Stanley, K.K. Gaffney and Kodi Cortez led the Dawg defense in an 18-0 shutout win over the Warriors.

On offense freshman Silas LeGrant score two touchdowns and freshman Octavious Roberts one to lead the offense. Cortez, another Bulldog freshman. quarterbacked the team as Toombs County evened it’s record at 1-1. The young Bulldogs opened up with an 8-7 loss at Swainsboro.
