The Toombs County Bulldogs opened up their second round GHSA State Tournament series at Banks County with their third straight run-rule victory in the post season. The Dawgs, who went three up, three down in the first inning, scored in every frame after that as they defeated the Leopards 12-2 in five innings.
Martin Stephens singled in a pair of runs in a three-run second inning. The first run scored on a wild pitch. In the third inning Brock Harrison singled in a run and Brandon Helton hit a sacrifice fly to left to make it 5-0.
The Bulldogs scored three runs in the fourth on just one base hit and then they added four more in the fifth. The first run scored on an error. Stephens singled in his third run of the game and George Lucke extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a two-run single to right.
D.R. Meadows pitched all five innings and allowed only two hits and two earned runs. Kelon Dalton singled in a run with two outs in the second inning and Judd Roberts led off the fourth with a solo homer over the center field fence. Meadows struck out two batters and walked only one.
