The Toombs County Bulldogs wrapped up their regular season with a sixth straight victory. However, an easy win turned into a challenging one. TCHS appeared to be in route to a second straight run-rule decision as the Bulldogs scored the first 10 runs by the end of the top of the fourth. But, the final three innings belonged to Southeast Bulloch. The Yellow Jackets scored the final eight runs. But the Bulldogs won their third straight road game 10-8 in Brooklet.
Toombs County ends the regular season with a 12-13 overall record and the Bulldogs finished fourth in Region 2 with a 7-7 mark.
Up next for Toombs is a trip to Augusta for the GHSA State Tourney. The Bulldogs and Laney High School will open up a best of three series on Friday at 4 p.m. on Y-101 Radio. Game two will be at 6:30 and then the if necessary game will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. Admission is $10.
D.R. Meadows led the TCHS offense with a 4-for-4 game with a walk. Meadows stroked three singles and a double and he increased his career hit total to 96. Meadows also stole home for the third time in his baseball career. He also did it in the sixth inning of a scrimmage game at Metter in 2016 and once with his summer Chain team.
