
Rileigh Robinson lifted a pitch to left center field, with one down and the bases loaded, to drive in Morgan Newsome to give Lyons a 5-4 winners bracket victory over Vidalia in the District 1 Midget Girls Tournament in Swainsboro. Lyons also beat Swainsboro 10-7 to move into the championship round undefeated. Lyons trailed 4-0 entering the top of the sixth and the girls scored a 10-spot. Earlier in the tourney Lyons defeated Dublin 9-1 and Statesboro 19-1.

Vidalia scored a run in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at 4. Then in the bottom of the inning pitcher Bailey Holland walked, Newsome reached on a fielders choice as Vidalia tried to throw out the lead runner at third and Michala Moblcy walked to load the bases. Lily Mosley walked to score courtesy runner Jesslyn Smith, who had earlier stolen second base.

Lyons built up a 3-1 lead by scoring two runs in the first and one in the second. Ellie Graham doubled and scored on a Tory Wright grounder and Ziahya Griffin doubled and scored on Emma Salter’s RBI single in the first inning. Newsom scored on a wild pitch in the second.

Vidalia scored single runs in the fourth and the fifth. Holland pitched all six innings for Lyons and struck out seven batters.
