In a pair of practice games the Jeff Davis Flea Boys swept Lyons 11-6 and 34-14. In a rematch, in the winners bracket of the Lyons Youth Tournament, Lyons turned the tables on JD and won 14-4 in five innings. Lyons won the first three innings 3-1 and the last two 11-3. Y-101 play-by-play
Lyons and Vidalia will play on Saturday at noon to determine which team will play for the championship with an undefeated record.
Lyons scored two runs in the first on a RBI double by Tyson Brantley (3-for-3) and a run scoring single by M.J. Burton (2-for-3). Ryder Sears (2-for-3) singled in a run in the third.
Lyons scored four runs in the fourth and all the action began after two outs. Russ Furr (3-for-3) singled in two runs and Brittan Tabor (2-for-4), Slade McDonald (3-for-4) and Brantley all stroked RBI singles. In a six-run fifth Brody Randle (2-for-3), Clay Conner (2-for-3), Furr and Tabor all smacked run scoring hits.
On defense Lyons made only one error and the boys made several stellar plays. Ryder Sears charged a fly ball in center field and caught it on his knees. First baseman Tucker Braddy snagged two hard hit liners to his right and second baseman Tyson Brantley handled three straight grounders in a three-up, three-down third inning.
