The Braves Cody Cortez struck out 11 batters in four innings and the Cardinals Bryce Davis Ko’ed eight in four frames in a Lyons Recreation Department Midget Division game at Little Fenway Park at Partin Park. Neither starting pitcher was involved in the decision- a 4-3 victory for the Braves.
With the score tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Braves Carson Braddy was hit by a pitch and he eventually scored on an error. The shortstop was involved in three of the Braves’ four runs. Carson singled in a run in the first inning and scored to put the Braves up 2-0. Braddy also pitched the final two innings and earned the win.
The Cardinals came back from a 3-0 deficit by scoring a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth. In the top of the sixth Davis was called out at home plate on a close play.
Entering the game the Braves had already clinched first place in 11-12 year old division.
