Last year the Toombs County Bulldogs lost two close subregion games to Tattnall County and the starting and winning pitcher in Reidsville and Lyons was Peyton Knight. In the first meeting between the two teams in 2016 Knight was once again the Warriors starting pitcher, but this time the Bulldogs came out on top. D.R. Meadows smashed a single off the glove of shortstop Reed Purcell scoring three runs in the fourth and then the Dawgs scored seven more in the sixth in a 11-4 win. Watch a Salaine Meadows slideshow
The Bulldogs are 10-5 overall and 2-3 in the subregion. Tattnall is also 2-3 as both teams are battling for fourth place. The top four teams in both subregions play to determine the four teams which go to the GHSA State Tournament.
Brantley County defeated Dodge County 4-3 and Appling County at Pierce County was rained out and will be played on Monday.

Tuesday (March 29) Games- Toombs County at Dodge County 5:30 p.m. on Y-101 Radio and Mixlr. Tattnall County at Pierce County and Appling County at Brantley County.
Meadows was also the starting and winning pitcher and he improved his record to 4-1 this season and 7-2 for his career. D.R. allowed six hits and one earned run and he struck out seven Warriors and walked four. Meadows allowed all but one of his hits in the first three innings and then he clamped down on the Warriors. He retired eight in a row from the fourth through the sixth.
Tattnall scored an unearned run in the first and the Bulldogs matched them in the bottom of the inning. Meadows walked and scored on a two-strike, two-out single by Logan McGowan. The Warriors regained the lead in the second. Blake Durrence doubled and scored on a Kaleb Todd single.
In the fourth Nick Curtis walked to lead off the inning, Lane Adams singled with two outs and then Jalen Mobley was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Meadows. D.R. hit a 3-2 pitch off the glove of the shortstop and then the ball got by the center fielder scoring three runs while Meadows raced to third base.
In the bottom of the sixth Jordan Usher reached on an error and then Brock Harrison and Adams each walked to load the bases. Kyle Knight was hit by a pitch which plated a run. Meadows made it 6-2 with a sacrifice fly and then Bryce Deloach singled in a run, With two outs Nick Curtis singled in a pair of runs and Usher came back to the plate and he doubled in two more to put Toombs up 11-2.
