TCMS Bullpups pull away in the fourth quarter and win their first game


The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups outscored visiting East Laurens 7-2 in the fourth quarter as they pulled away and won their first game of the season 30-25. The game was close until the fourth quarter with EL leading 6-4 after the first quarter and the game was tied at half at 16-all and after three quarters at 23 a piece. TCMS scored the first seven points of the final quarter.


Tyreike Butler led TCMS with 11 points. The strong post player grabbed quite a few offensive and defensive rebounds and scored a three-point play in the fourth quarter which put the Bullpups up 27-23 with 3:48 to play. Trey Cloud fed him in the left blocks and Butler scored and was fouled and then swished the free throw.

Brannon Usher scored a bucket in the third quarter and nailed two free throws in the fourth and finished with four points. Tyler Smith also scored four points making two field goals in the first half. Maleke Day made the only TCMS 3-pointer in the third quarter for his three points and Cloud, T.Y. Myrick and Drekari Jones each scored two.

East Laurens won the girls game 40-15. Diamond Logan and Amiya Bullard each scored four points, Tonyra Cephus made a 3-ball for three and Neha Davis and Sheila Lamar each scored two.
