Davis, who finished first last season in the 65 pound weight class in the tourney staged at East Laurens, pinned two opponents to win the 70 pound division this year. “It felt pretty good to win first place,” Davis said. “I just went out and won my first match and pinned him in the second period and then in my second match I pinned him in the first round.” Davis who also competes in USA Wrestling says he has improved his technique and fitness this season.

Last year Gordy won a medal, but he didn’t finish first. “I was determined to come back this year and just hammer it down and get first this year,” Gordy said. “It was pretty exciting (to finish first), me being short. I felt really tall on that podium, really high. Me beating West Laurens is a really big thing.”

Second place finisher for TCMS- Troy Curl, Justin Dees, Blake Hall, Matt Lanier and Angel Brown.
