TCMS Bullpups move into the championship game


For the second time in seven days Toombs County Middle School striker Julian Marin scored three goals against rival J.R. Trippe and his hat trick, at the TCMS Soccer Field, led  the Bullpups to a 5-0 win over the Chiefs sending them to the championship game of the season-ending MGMSAA Tournament. Toombs will play West Laurens on Friday at 5:15 p.m. in Lyons for the title. West Laurens shut out Bleckley County 4-0 in the second semifinal. Watch a slideshow

Marin scored the first two goals to give the Bullpups a 2-0 halftime lead. Kevyn Perez scored the third goal and Marcos Zamorano fired in the fourth goal.

The Bullpups and West Laurens played a tight game during the regular season which was decided by penalty kicks and the Raiders made four and the Bullpups kicked in two. Toombs has played for a championship the past two seasons losing to Trippe last season and to West Laurens 2-1 two seasons ago. TCMS last won a title in 2013 when the Bullpups beat West Laurens 2-1 giving them five championships in six seasons.
