The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups scored the first and the last touchdown in a 30-14 loss at J.R. Trippe. The first TD was the Bullpups first score of the season after being shutout by Swainsboro, Dublin and West Laurens to open up.
The Bullpups first touchdown drive of the season was quite a drive. TCMS took the opening kickoff and held the ball for the whole first eight minute quarter and five seconds of the second on a wet field with a constant drizzle. The Pups drove about 55-yards before finally scoring on a three-yard run by quarterback Trey Cloud. A two-point run failed giving TCMS it’s first lead of the season at 6-0.
J.R. Trippe scored on a three-yard run with 4:05 to play in the second quarter. The Chiefs two-point run failed tying the game at 6-6, which was the score at the half.
The Chiefs took their first lead with 6:16 to go in the third quarter on an 18-yard run and with a two-point run Trippe led 14-6. The Chiefs scored on a three-yard run with 7:32 to play in the fourth quarter and then they crossed the goal line with a nine-yard run. They converted on both two-point conversion runs to build up a 30-6 lead with 1:50 to play.
Toombs finished the game with an efficient seven-play drive. Tyler Smith scored the touchdown on a seven-yard run with 8.5 second to play and Jared Hall crossed the goal line with a two-point run.
