In their first competition of the season, the Toombs County Cheer Dawgs finished first in the Double A competition at Jones County High School in Gray.

Washington County finished second and other schools competing included Bleckley, Jeff Davis, Dodge.

TCHS cross country runners competed earlier today at the Trinity Christian School of Dublin’s invitational. The competition included Vidalia, Johnson County, Hawkinsville, Twiggs, and a number of area private schools.

The Toombs Varsity boys took 1st place overall, with our top 5 runners all finishing in the first 11 places. Ricardo Santana posted our fastest time with an 18:30, followed closely by his brother Tristan Lynn, who is returning to form after battling illness and minor injury at our first two races. Ermias Fisser, Cruz Arredondo and Martin (Tini) Santana (Tristan and Ricardo’s other brother) rounded out the boys top 5.

Our girls competed well, but unfortunately only 4 could make it to this race and you need a minimum of 5 runners for a team score. Despite this, all girls dropped their times from our previous meets by 1 to 3 minutes, which is no small feat in a cross country race.

Our top girls finisher was Crystal Morales, who posted a time of 25:25, and came in 14th place overall out of approximately 100 runners. Coaches Buck Alford and Mark McDaniel are exceedingly proud of all our TCHS runners, and look forward to accomplishing even greater things as the season continues.
