Jamar Smith leads Holmes in tackles

As a Toombs County Bulldog Jamar Smith usually led the team in rushing. These days at Holmes Community College, in Mississippi, Smith is leading those Bulldogs in tackles through four games. Jamar, who wears number nine and plays linebacker, leads Holmes with 28 total tackles- 17 solo tackles and 11 assist. He has one sack for minus seven yards. TCMS’s Crystal Morales rules her first race of the season

She didn’t lead the whole way, but she did lead most of the way. Toombs County Middle School’s Crystal Morales won her first race of the season running the two mile course around TCMS, Lyons Upper Elementary and the pond in 13:47 and she held off a competitor, from Richmond Hill, by a nine second margin at the finish line. TCHS Net Dawgs split a pair of three set matches

The Toombs County volleyball team split two three set home matches against two region opponents. First the Net Dawgs avenged a two set loss to Jenkins High School, in Savannah by beating the Lady Warriors 25-13, 21-25 and 25-12. JV Dawgs “bring it” and shutout Appling

In their second game of the season, at Tattnall County, the Toombs County junior varsity football team gave up a long TD run on the first play from scrimmage and they lost. TCHS Cheerleaders are ready to open the season

The Toombs County competition cheerleading team has been practicing since June to get ready for their six weeks of action leading up to the Region 1 AAA  event at Statesboro where they will try to qualify for the state tournament in Columbus. Bulldogs sputter in 18-7 loss to Beach

In the final three quarters at Vidalia, the Toombs County Bulldogs scored two touchdowns and kicked two field goals. In four quarters. in their Pit against Beach, the Bulldogs scored one TD in an 18-7 Region 1 AAA crossover game. Big plays burden JV Bulldogs

The Tattnall County junior varsity broke two big running plays against the visiting Toombs County Bulldogs in a 22-7  victory. The Warriors scored on a 65-yard run on the game’s first play from scrimmage and a run of equal distance in the second half. The Bulldogs opened the second half with a 16-play drive which ended on a fourth and three TD run by freshman quarterback Ashlee Ashley.


Brantley County knocks off the Lady Dawgs

The Brantley County Lady Herons scored four runs early and four more later on to hold of Toombs County 9-5 in a Region 1 AAA softball game in Lyons. Brothers Tristan Lynn and Ricardo Santana finished first and second in Toombs County’s first cross country action of the season at Vidalia High School. Running a three-mile course which includes a trip into the woods and a lap around the track at Buck Cravey Field, Lynn, a junior, won in a time of 18:35. TCHS Bulldogs overcome sluggish 1st quarter with inspired play the rest of the way

Down 21-0 after 12 minutes and five seconds of their rivalry game at Buck Cravey Field in Vidalia, the Toombs County Bulldogs quite making mistakes and started making plays. The more efficient effort, some Indian mistakes and the right leg of Rig Tinoco allowed the Bulldgos to score 13 straight points in the second and third quarter.
