Vidalia Junior Boys eliminate Lyons from the Lyons Youth Tournament

The Lyons and Vidalia Junior Boys were suppose to play their Lyons Youth Tournament game on Monday. Former Toombs County Bulldog James Ethredge, who is a Dean’s List pitcher for Valdosta State, is a member of the Chillicothe (Missouri) Mudcats of the M.I.N.K. Collegiate Summer Baseball League. TCHS Baseball Bulldogs beat and tie Vidalia

Toombs County’s two baseball rivals have been playing non-region games the past two seasons. In 2017 the Toombs County Bulldogs and the Vidalia Indians will be together in the same region.  So, this summer the games have a little more meaning. The Lyons Junior Boys opened up the 54th Lyons Youth Tournament with an 11-2 win over Long County. Alex Gordy pitched all five innings yielding five hits and no earned runs with seven strikeouts and only two walks. He also picked off two base runners at second. The Lyons Midget Girls infielders and outfielders didn’t get much action in a 4-1 win over Swainsboro at Little Fenway because of the pitching of Bailey Holland. Beasley starts Darton’s first game in the JUCO World Series- a 13-11 Cavalier loss

On Saturday Jeremy Beasley was the starting pitcher in Darton State’s first ever game of the NJCAA Division 1 World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. The All Star season begins at Partin Park
