Taking a look into Toombs County Soccer

The Toombs County High School soccer teams are having a good season in 2021. On the 2021 season right now, the TCHS girls’ soccer team is 9-2 in Region 2 AA and 10-5 overall. The TCHS boys’ soccer is 8-3 in Region 2 AA and 11-4 overall.

In total this season, the LadyDawgs have scored 44 goals. Sophomore Anyadi Colmenarez leads the team with 14 goals scored and 11 assists. Senior Rilyn Fitzgerald follows Colmenarez with 12 goals scored and 11 assists. The team is averaging 4 goals per match. The girls’ had an eight game win streak this season. In region action, the girls have knocked off teams like Vidalia (1-0 & 2-0), Bacon County (7-0 & 8-1), Woodville Tompkins (7-0 & 2-0) and Swainsboro (6-1). The girls split matches with East Laurens, winning 1-0 and losing 1-0 and with Jeff Davis winning 4-0 and losing 4-1.

The Bulldog Soccer team have scored 62 goals in total so far in the 2021 season. Senior Omar Aguilar has scored 14 goals and Senior Carlos Sanchez has scored 11. Senior Marcos Zamorano leads the team in assists with 12 and Senior Dawson Harvey has nine. The team is averaging 4.4 goals per match. The guys so far this season have had a six game winning streak. In region action the guys have beaten teams like East Laurens (7-0 & 12-0) and Woodville Tompkins (5-0 & 7-2). The guys have split with teams like Vidalia, Jeff Davis and Bacon County.

The current Region 2 AA standings for girls soccer (in order of first to last): East Laurens (8-1), Toombs (9-2), Jeff Davis (7-4), Swainsboro (6-5), Vidalia (5-6), Bacon (1-9), and Woodville Tompkins (1-10).

The current Region 2 AA standings for boys soccer (in order of first to last): Jeff Davis (9-2), Bacon (8-2), Toombs (8-3), Vidalia (5-6), Woodville Tompkins (5-6), East Laurens (1-8), and Swainsboro (1-10).

The teams are still in action. All home games for both the girls and boy are held at Booster Stadium (The Pit) in Lyons.
