The Vidalia Indians were rolling off a three game sweep against the Swainsboro Tigers, and the Indians brought their A game to Toombs County and beat the Bulldogs 8-1.
Junior Logan Knight and the Bulldog’s defense had two outs in the top of the first and an error in the outfield gave the Indians the edge they needed to set the tone of the game. The Indians scored two unearned runs in the top of the first. TCHS was unable to score any in the bottom of the inning.
In the top of the second, the Indians scored two more. The Bulldogs responded by scoring one in the bottom of the inning. Senior Alex Gordy had a RBI double that scored Sophomore Wil Watts who reached on a single. This was the only run the Bulldogs scored in the game.
The Indians scored another in the third and sixth. Vidalia scored two more in the top of the seventh.
Offensively the Bulldogs only had four hits. Junior Jason Dukes and Gordy each had a hit and Watts had two.
With the loss to Vidalia, TCHS falls to 2-2 on the region and 10-6 overall.
The Bulldogs will face off against the Indians in game two of the three on Wednesday, March 31 at the Reservation in Vidalia. The first pitch will be at 5:45 at Greg James Field. The game will be live on Y-101 100.9 and streamed on our YouTube page.
