Cavalier pitching took care of TCHS

The Toombs County Bulldog baseball team played in Grayson Stadium against the Calvary Day Cavaliers and lost 6-0 on Friday night.

In the historic Grayson Stadium, home of the Savannah Bananas, the Bulldogs faced off in a non-region game versus the Calvary Day Cavaliers. The Cavaliers coming into the game were 0-1. The Cavaliers lost to the Vidalia Indians earlier in the week 3-0.

Toombs County walked up to the plate to start the game. A walk, flyout and two strikeouts ended the top of the first. It seemed as though throughout the game, TCHS struggled to put the ball in play and small defensive errors gave up six runs of which only three were earned.

The Cavaliers scored three in the bottom of the first, two in the bottom of the third and one in the fourth. TCHS only had two hits in the game. Sophomore Dawson Brantley had the team’s first hit in the top of the third. In the top of the seventh, Senior Chandler Lynn – returning from an active wrestling season, had the team’s second hit.

The Bulldogs are now 1-1 on the 2021 season.

TCHS will face off against the Portal Panthers on Monday, February 22 at home with the first pitch at 5:45. You can listen on Y-101 100.9 or our online stream by going to YouTube and searching for Y101 Live Action Sports.
