6 Bulldogs advance to the semifinals of the GHSA Class 2A Section A Wrestling Tournament

The Toombs County wrestling team took 10 Bulldogs to the GHSA 2A Section A Wrestling Tournament at Lamar High School in Barnesville. After the first day of competition six have moved into the semifinals and are guaranteed a trip to the state tourney.

Jose Balderos, Martin Santana, Arael Rodriguez, Chandler Lynn, Tank Morris and Devante Willis have all advanced to the semis on Saturday. Blake Hall has also qualified for the state tourney through the losers bracket.

106 pounds- Jose Balderos- had two bye’s and a pin in just 52 seconds in his quarterfinal match.

113 pounds- Martin Santana- had two bye’s and pinned his quarterfinal opponent 1:01 into the first period.

120 pounds- Gibson Woods- had a bye, was pinned in the third period and then was knocked out of the tourney by a 12-8 decision.

132 pounds- Blake Hall- lost 13-5 and in the losers bracket and in the losers bracket he had a bye and a third period pin. Blake is in the top eight and has qualified for state.

138 pounds- Arael Rodriguez- had two byes and won his quarterfinal match 16-4.

145 pounds- Jacob Edwards- lost 14-4 and in the losers bracket he had a bye and was pinned in the third period ending his tourney.

152 pounds- Jeremy Brantley- was pinned in the first period and in the losers bracket he had a bye and was pinned in the second period ending his tourney.

160 pounds- Chandler Lynn- had two bye’s and a 20-5 victory in his quarterfinal match,

170 pounds- Tank Morris- had two bye’s and a 20-7 win in his quarterfinal match.

285 pounds- Devante Willis- moved into the semifinals with two byes and a 5-0 win.
