Two-unit Bulldogs earn 1st victory of the season

After loosing their first four games of the season Toombs County Bulldog head basketball coach Telvin Thomas altered his strategy in game 5. In a Region 2 home game against Bryan County he went with two units of five players and the result was more defensive pressure, four double-digit scorers and a 77-28 win over the Redskins.

The first unit consisted of Cameron Williams, who led that group with 14 points, Gage Herndon who added 10, Tyler Heath 7, D.J. McKinney 6 and J.D. Myers who didn’t score.

Julian Mann was the leading scorer for the second unite with 18 points, Drekari Jones added 13, Michael Butler 5, Cameron Rollison 2 and Tyreke Butler who did not score.

The Bulldogs are 1-1 in the region.

Bryan County won the girls game 76-31. Nika Davis hit three 3-pointers and made one free throw to lead the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points. Amya Bullard and Ashunti Campbell each scored 8, Ziahya Griffin 3 and Tay Howard 2. The Lady Bulldogs are 1-4 overall and -2 in the region.
