The 2019 Jeff Davis Duals, featured 28 teams from Georgia and South Carolina, and the Toombs County Mat Dawgs brought home a first place trophy in the Silver division. After loosing their first four games of the season Toombs County Bulldog head basketball coach Telvin Thomas altered his strategy in game 5. Former Toombs County Bulldog basketball and football player Demetrius Taylor who graduated in 2013 is still playing ball and he is also coaching. Demetrius plays for the Middle Georgia Pits in the ABA and he coaches middle school players in AAU tournaments. The ABA is made up of teams spread all across the country. Parker scored 26 points and Murray State signee Jaqueze Kirby added 18 as the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets improved to 4-0 amd 1-0 in Region 2 with an 82-64 win over the Toombs County Bulldogs in Hazlehurst. The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups excelled on defense and on the glass in their 45-25 home win over Claxton. The Bullpups are 4-0. Jesus Quintero topped Toombs with 17 points. Caden Marsh added 12 points, Domminick Eason had 6, Jordan Jones and JuJu Cutler each scored 4 and Lagonza Hayward chipped in 3.

In their last two games the Toombs County Middle School Lady Bullpups got off to a slow start and they had to rally in the end just to make the games close. In a home game against Claxton the girls opened up scoring 14 straight and then they yielded two points before reeling off 18 straight in a 42-10 victory.
