Lady Bulldogs open up with a 3-point win over Portal

The Toombs County Lady Bulldog basketball team opened up their 2019-20 season with a 45-42 home win over Portal. Calvika Davis led TCHS with 16 points and K.K. Mobley scored 11. Davis hit two 3-pointers and was 6-for-8 at the free throw line.

Portal led 8-7 after the first quarter. Toombs attacked the Lady Panther zone defense better in the second quarter and outscored them 17-9 to take a 24-17 lead at half.

Portal won the third quarter 12-7 to cut the Lady Bulldog lead to 31-29.

In the fourth quarter Amya Bullard, who was in foul trouble early in the game, scored three straight inside buckets as Toombs opened up a 39-32 lead . The Lady Panthers came back and cut the lead down to one-point. With 7.7 seconds to play Mobley nailed a pair of free throws to seal the victory. 

Bullard scored 6 points, Ziahya Griffin 5, Diamond Logan 5, Alexa Ledford 2 and Ashunti Campbell 1.
