Four-point second quarter dooms the Dawgs in their season-opener

Missing seven experienced players who are still participating in the football playoffs, the Toombs County Bulldog basketball team opened up the season with a 65-59 home loss to the Portal Panthers.

The Dawgs were flowing on offense in the first quarter as they took a 21-16 lead. Cameron Williams scored all 8 of his points in the first quarter including two 3-balls. In the second quarter TCHS was outscored 19-4 and the Bulldogs trailed 35-25 at half.

The Bulldogs bounced back offensively in the third quarter scoring 17, but yielding 19 as they trailed 54-42. Toombs made a late push in the fourth quarter and cut the lead down to four points.

Julian Mann scored 11 points, Tyreike Butler 10, D.J. McKinney 10, J.D. Myers 10, C. Rolison 6 and Hunter Herndon 2.
