The East Laurens Falcons scored a short rushing touchdown and a 2-point conversion off a running play with 33 seconds remaining in the game to take a 16-14 home win over Toombs County in B-Team action on Thursday.
The Bulldogs took an 8-0 lead with 3:18 to play in the first quarter. Freshman running back Silas Legrant scored on a 42-yard run for six and Gavin Hall threw a 2-point conversion pass to freshman Will Watts in the right corner of the end zone. Watts reached out with his right hand and made a one-handed catch.
East Laurens tied the game at 8-8 with a safety and a 32-yard touchdown pass with 25 seconds remaining in the first half.
Toombs regained the lead with 5:44 left in the third quarter. Hall threw a screen pass to Legrant which netted 69-yards down to the 1-yard line and then Jamarion Robinson scored on the ground. The 2-point conversion run failed. So, the Bulldogs had a 14-8 lead.
