While winning 12 of 13 regular season games, the only team that beat the Toombs County Lady Bullpups softball team was South Tattnall. In a game on September 19 South Tattnall defeated TCMS 6-4.
In a rematch in the championship game of the Southeast Georgia Middle School League the Lady Bullpups built up a 3-0 lead and then hold on to a 3-2 victory at the Glennville Recreation Department.
Including a scrimmage home win over Bleckley County and a semifinal victory over North Tattnall, the Lady Bullpups won 15 of the 16 games they played.
Toombs County scored single runs in the first and second inning. Arli Gooden opened the game with her first of two walks drawn and then scored on a wild pitch.
In the second inning Brinley Miller leadoff with a single and she scored when Gooden was walked with the bases loaded.
The Lady Bullpups added a key third run in the sixth inning when Morgan Kersey reached first and scored on an Anna Patrick grounded.
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth South Tattnall scored a pair of runs to make it a 3-2 game. Gooden, however, ended the game with her 12th strikeout.
Arli pitched all six innings and allowed five hits while walking three batters. South Tattnall’s Anna Deloach also pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and three walks.
