The first 10 batters who came to the plate in the top of the fourth all scored for the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups as they rolled to a 20-0 win at Bryan County to remain undefeated with a 10-0 record.
Arlie Gooden once again dominated the opposition from the circle pitching her second no-hitter in the last week. She struck out five batters and walked two. Gooden has also pitched two one-hitters and a three-hitter in recent games. In the first inning she retired Bryan County on a grounder to the circle, a ground ball to short and a fly ball to left.
In the second inning Arlie walked the leadoff batter and then struck out the next three batters. In the third she struck out two more giving her a run of five straight K’s which was stopped with a ground ball out to third base.
Gooden walked the first batter in the fourth and then three grounders ended the game.
On offense Gooden walked four times, Nora Grace Mercer went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, Kassidy Brantley 1-for-3, Casey Cantwell walked and scored a run, Brinley Miller walked twice and scored two runs, Autumn Jarriel went 2-for-2 with four runs scored, Anna Patrick walked and scored a run, Morgan Kersey 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored and number nine hitter Aniston Powell 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and two runs scored.
