It was quite a pitchers dual. Toombs County Middle School’s Arlie Gooden versus Screven County’s Tamia Pierce. The game was scoreless for three innings prior to Screven scoring a run in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth TCMS scored four runs as the Lady Bullpups pulled out a 4-1 win to improve their record to 9-0.
Aveonna Moore led off the Screven County fourth inning with a double to right field and then scored on a single by Lyla Johnson.
In the bottom of the fifth inning Autumn Jarriel walked and scored on a Morgan Kersey bunt. Anna Patrick grounded out to second base to bring in Kersey from third base to put TCMS up 2-1. Aniston Powell walked and scored on a error and Gooden scored on a Nora Grace Mercer single. Kassidy Brantley went 3-for-3 with three singles.
Gooden pitched a six inning complete game and allowed three hits and an earned run with eight strikeouts and one walk.
