Lady Bullpups win in the 7th to go 7-0

In their now 7-0 start the Toombs County Middle School Lady Bullpups softball team has had two close calls- a 10-8 win at Screven County and a 9-8 home victory over Metter.

On Tuesday the Lady Bullpups and Metter met for a second time in Metter and this time the game went to an extra inning tied at 2. In the seventh TCMS outscored Metter 4-2 to win 6-4.

Casey Cantwell, Autumn Jerrell and Morgan Kersey each walked in the seventh. Ana Patrick had a hit, Aniston Powell a sacrifice fly and Arlie Gooden (2-for-2 with two walks) drove in a pair of runs with a single.

Toombs County scored two runs in the second inning. Brinley Miller and Kersey each reached on an error and scored. Patrick had a RBI hit.

Gooden pitched a complete game one-hitter for the second straight game and struck out 11 batters.
