The Lady Bulldogs split a pair of Saturday games

A Saturday of softball tourney action in Tattnall County did not start off well for the Toombs County Lady Bulldogs. In a 10 a.m. game against Portal they made eight errors and had only three hits in a 13-5 loss. However, they did bounce back at noontime with a 7-4 win over Savannah Christian,

In their victory the Lady Bulldogs built up 7-1 lead. In the bottom of the first inning Ziahya Griffin (1-for-3 with a run scored) doubled to left with one down and scored on Rilyn Fitzgerald’s (2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored) single to right. Fitzgerald is off to an 8-for-12 start and she is batting .667.

In the third inning K.K. Mobley (1-for-3 with two runs scored) led off with a single to center, Fitzgerald followed with a single to center and with two down Lily Mosley reached on an error to push Mobley to the plate.which made it 2-1 TCHS. Krista Cantwell (2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored) singled to center to score Fitzgerald to make it 3-1 and then Amya Bullard (1-for-2 with two RBI) doubled to right scoring Mosley and Cantwell and the Lady Dawgs were up 5-1.

In the fourth Riley Lumley walked to lead off the inning and she scored on a pass ball. Mobley, who reached on an error by the center fielder, also scored.

Emma Salter went 1-for-2 for the Lady Bulldogs who had nine total hits.

Lauren Hattaway was the winning pitcher and she is 2-0. The freshman pitched all five innings and allowed seven hits and two earned runs with a strikeout and a walk.

In the loss to Portal Toombs scored three runs in the top of the first. Mobley reached on an error and scored on an infield single by Griffin (1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored). Lumley, who reached on a fielder’s choice scored the second run and Cantwell (1-for-3 with a run scored), who reached on a bunt single to third base, scored on an error.

In the third inning Griffin led off with a walk and she scored on an error. Fitzgerald (1-for-2 with a run scored) also walked and she scored on a pass ball.
