Coach Walker exports Lady Bulldog basketball to Brazil

Toombs County Lady Bulldog basketball coach Melody Walker joined former Bulldog head basketball coach Donnie Arrington on a 5,000 mile journey to Brazil representing the Southeast Georgia Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Coach Walker worked with young Brazilian boys and girls teaching them some of the same basketball skills she imparts to her Lady Bulldog teams.

“Initially I was completely overwhelmed about the opportunity to have this experience. I had no idea what to expect, but it proved to be probably one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had,” Walker said. “We spent a whole lot of time working on some basketball things and it was refreshing for me as a coach because we were able to implement some things we do with our own team with kids- to me- seemed more appreciative of what we were doing.”

Coach Walker said two of her big highlights from the trip were the camaraderie and spreading the Gospel. “We were from three different schools and two of us were from rival schools and we worked well together. Another highlight was to be able to worship in another country because I don’t think a lot of people have experienced that even with a whole other language we were still able feel the presence of God.”
