5 Lyons Recreation Department teams seeking GRPA State Championships

Since the summer of 2015 the Lyons Recreation Department has won seven GRPA State Championships including three each of the last two seasons. In the last week of this June five more Lyons teams will be seeking titles.

Flea Girls- 8 and under- This young group is going to state as the District 1 Champions. They lost their first game in the district tourney at Effingham County and then reeled off five straight wins in the losers bracket including four in a row on the final day of the tourney. Lyons defeated Effingham 12-4 and 12-4 to compete that amazing Friday.

These girls play excellent defense and the whole lineup swings the bat well. Some of the girls can hit the ball deep and the others are speedy and get on base by beating the throws to first base.
