Senior Cole Graham and sophomore Chase Musselman were the only Toombs County Bulldogs to make the All-Region 2 Team as selected by the region coaches.
Graham was selected as the first team catcher which was his goal going all the way back to his freshman season and Musselman was named to the second team as a pitcher.
Graham had a historic season behind the plate. He had 122 chances to make and error and he didn’t make a single one. He was credited with 22 assists and he participated in five double plays.
On offense Cole put up career best numbers with his .402 batting average, .472 on base percentage and .511 slugging percentage. Graham led the Bulldogs with 23 RBI and he was tied for tops on the club with eight doubles. He also stroked one triple. Graham also had the team’s longest hitting streak which reached 12 games.
Musselman was TCHS’s game 2 starter during the region schedule. He went 3-4 with a save and a 1.74 ERA. In 52 1/3 innings he allowed only 38 hits with 33 strikeouts and 20 walks.
Chase won his first game at Tattnall County pitching seven innings allowing no earned runs with three strikeouts and no walks. His second victory was in a Region 2 game at Bryan County. Musselman pitched seven innings on just 63 pitches yielding just three hits with five strikeouts and no walks. His third victory was in relief at Metter. He tossed the final two innings in a 5-4 eight inning win giving up just one hit.
Two days later- at Jacky Jones Field- Musselman pitched seven innings against Metter and did not allow an earned run. The Tigers stroked six hits and struck out five times and won the game 1-0 on an unearned run. Another game Chase could have won was at home against Bacon County.
