Three Lyons All-Star teams move into the championship round or the Lyons Youth Tournament

The Lyons Midget Girls, Midget Boys and Junior Boys have all advanced to the championship round of the Lyons Youth Tournament with big wins on Friday.

The Lyons Midget Girls defeated a strong Bacon County team 9-1, the Lyons Midget Boys took care of Jeff Davis 8-1 and the Lyons Midget Boys beat Vidalia 7-2.

Lyons Junior Boys 7, Vidalia 2

Brantley Upshaw pitched five shutout innings and allowed the Vidalia Junior Boys just one hit with six strikeouts and one walk. Lucas O’Conner threw in relief and struck out three batters.

At the plate all nine Junior Boys had at least a hit. Carson Braddy and Jesus Quintero each went 2-for-3, Kipp Mosley 2-for-4, Will Watts 1-for-2, O’Connor 1-for-3 and Ashton Luke, Dawson Brantley, Trayvan Harris and Upshaw all went 1-for-4.

Lyons Midget Boys 8, Jeff Davis 1

The Lyons Midget Boys scored two runs in the first inning when Levi Martin singled in Cameron Ledford and Sam Sapp. Lyons scored three more in the second. Cameron Harris lead off with a walk and scored and later in the inning T.J. Stanley and Dylan Vetter each stroked a hit and scored a run.

In the third inning Martin smacked a second hit and scored and Tucker Braddy also had a hit and scored a run, Vetter scored the final run, reaching on a single.

Sapp pitched all six innings and struck out 10 batters with no walks. Jeff Davis scored it’s only run in the first inning on a single and a ground ball. After the first Sam allowed only a third inning single in his two-hit gem.

The championships games will be played on Saturday. Each Lyons team needs only one more victory to finish first. If one of the Lyons teams were to lose there would be a second game. The Midget Girls will play at 11:30 a.m. on Field 2, the Midget Boys at noon at Little Fenway and the Junior Boys at noon on Field 3.
