The Toombs County High School track and field team had three Region 2 Champions and all three qualified for the GHSA Double A State Meet after their performances at the Section A Meet at Fitzgerald.
Toombs County’s Caleb Hartley finished first in the discus, Divoria Gafney was second in the long jump and LiliAnn Pittman placed third in the shot put. Freshman K.K. Mobley also qualified for stat with an eighth place finish in the high jump.
Caleb won the discus event by 33 pus feet with a best distance of 169.08. He placed second in the shot put finishing just two inches behind Screven County’s Dekalvin Wilson- 59-09 to50-07. So, he will be competing in both events at state on May 9-11 in Rome.
Pittman threw a personal best in the shut put at 37-03.00 and she finished third.
Gafney was second in long jump. Her best jump was 17-10.25 and Vidalia’s Myesha Hall won the event by a slim margin with a top jump of 17-11. Divoria also qualified for state in the 100 meter race with her fifth place finish in 12.52. Mobley jumped four feet and 10 inches and placed eighth.
