The final game of the three-game rivalry series between the Toombs County Bulldogs and the Vidalia Indians was claimed by the visitors at Jacky Jones Field. The Dawgs never had a lead in a close game won by Vidalia 4-2. Y-101 play-by-play
The Indians rallied for two straight wins (4-0 on Wednesday in Vidalia) in the series following TCHS’s 7-1 home win on Monday. Vidalia takes over third place in Region 2 with a 9-5 record. The Bulldogs are in fourth with an 8-7 record.
Vidalia scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning. Bryce Davis opened the frame with a single, Garrett Gillis executed a sacrifice bunt to move him to second and Landry Mead followed with a RBI single.
The Bulldogs tied the game in the third. Chandler Lynn led off with a single, Brock Harrison also singled with one down and Bryce Deloach singled on an 0-2 pitch to score Lynn.
In the top of the fifth Riley Powers led off with a single, Matt Moye laid down the sacrifice bunt, Davis was hit by a pitch and Gillis drove in a run with a grounder to short and Mead singled in his second run of the game to put Vidalia up 3-1.
Toombs pulled to within one run for a second time in the bottom of the sixth. With one down, Dalton Lynn stroked a big double to left for his first extra-base hit of the season and then he scored on a wild pitch with two down to cut the Indian lead to 3-2.
Vidalia added an insurance run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Ty Dally.
