Never give up on the Toombs County Bulldogs even when they are down 6-1 to Tattnall County after the top of the second. These Dawgs turned the game around by outscoring the Warriors 16-1 to win a five inning game 17-7 at Jacky Jones Field in Lyons. Y-101 Play-by-play
Toombs County scored in every inning while the Warriors only scored in the first three. Tattnall took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a two-run single by Tyler Yancy. Cole Graham cut the lead to 2-1 with RBI ground out to short in the bottom of the first.
The Warriors built up their 6-1 lead in the top of the second when Fox Collins singled in two runs with one down and Yancy drove in another run with a two out single.
The bottom of the TCHS order got on base to set up a four-run second inning. Chase Musselman was hit by a pitch and Alex Gordy and Trey Cloud each walked to load the bases and Kodi Cortez drew a walk on a 3-2 pitch to score the first run. Chandler Lynn was hit by a pitch to plate another and then Brock Harrison singled in a run and Graham hit a sacrifice fly to score one and cut the Warrior lead to 6-5.
Tatttnall County scored a final run on a Collins single to give the Warriors a 7-5 lead. The Bulldogs took the lead for good in the bottom of the third. Chandler Lynn, Harrison, Graham and Dalton Lynn each singled in a run as the Dawgs built up a 10-5 lead.
Musselman moved from shortstop to the mound in the top of the fourth and retired the Warriors six up, six down. He induced a grounder to Gordy at first base and struck the four and five hitters in his first inning. In the fifth second baseman Dalton Lynn caught a pop up in the outfield grass and he successfully fielded a grounder and then his brother caught a fly ball in center.
In the bottom of the fourth Kodi Cortez and Chandler Lynn hit back-to-back RBI doubles to push the Bulldog lead to 12-7 and Toombs put the game away in the bottom of the fifth. Chase Miller came off the bench and singled to right score a run and Graham ended the game with his fourth RBI on a single to left.
