Toombs County Athletic HOF inductee- Bill Alexander

Bill Alexander is inducted into the Toombs County Athletic Hall of Fame

In 1950 Bill Alexander played on a Lyons High School football team that only scored 12 points in 10 games. The Bulldogs were shutout in eight games and in back-to-back road games they were outscored 85-0 at Metter and 80-0 at Swainsboro.

Five seasons later Bill was a captain at Austin Peay and he was named to the All-Volunteer State Athletic Conference team in both 1954 and 55 as a halfback. In between Lyons and Austin Peay, Alexander started on offense, defense and special teams at Georgia Military College.

At GMC Bill scored a game-winning touchdown against Florida State’s B-Team.
