Chandler Lynn adds yardage to a catch

Toombs County quarterback Trey Cloud completed two passes to Chandler Lynn for a first down and Vidalia was called for offsides to make it second down and one. The Dawgs threw an incomplete pass and Vidalia stopped TCHS on third down and one.

Toombs County punted the ball to the Indian 37 and Vidalia drove 63-yards for a field goal. Nyshun Bell ran for 26-yards and QB Marc Wardlaw ran for a first down. Vidalia was called for holding to make it third down and goal from the 17. Wardlaw ran the ball down to the five-yard line and on fourth down Grady Blount kicked a 22-yard field goal to put Vidalia up 10-0 in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs, on their second possession, gained two-yards and then threw two incomplete passes and had their punt blocked. The snap to Cole Graham was low and hit the turf and with three Indians breaking through the punt was deflected and went straight up in the air. It took a nice bounce at the Bulldog 20-yard line and that is where Antrevion Williams picked up the ball and ran it in to the north end zone for a TD giving Vidalia a 17-0 lead with 2:14 to play in the first quarter.

Toombs County put together a drive on it’s third possession. Cloud completed a 50-yard pass to Lynn and on the play Vidalia was called for a personal foul which moved the ball down to the Indian 13. Lynn ran a stop route and caught the ball at the Bulldog 30 and as he was turning up field he put his right hand on the ground to regain his balance. Chandler broke a tackle at the 32 and then with the ball in his left hand ran down the Bulldog sideline. Bell closed the gap and finally brought down Lynn at the Indian 26-yard line. The penalty moved the ball down to the 13. However, the drive stalled in the red zone on a three-yard run and two incomplete passes and Rafael Perez missed a 27-yard field goal with 11 second remaining in the first quarter. The attempted appeared to be deflected by an unblocked Indian. So, the Vidalia still had the lead at 17-0.

The Indians scoring pace slowed in the second quarter. The Bulldogs punted and had a pass intercepted and the Indians were also forced to punt the ball. Late in the quarter Vidalia drove 57-yards. The Indians collected three first downs on an 11-yard run by Nyshun Bell, a 15-yard catch by Bryant Phillips and a nine-yard run by Rodney Wardlaw.
