Beasley pitches 3 2/3 hitless innings in a four inning start

For the second time in his Double A Southern League career Jerremy Beasley took a no-hitter past the third inning. On July 25 in Jackson, Mississippi Beasley no-hit the Generals for 5 2/3 innings. The only hit he allowed in a seven inning start and victory was a bunt single down the third baseline. Back in Mississippi for a start against the Biloxi at MGM Park Jeremy held the Shuckers (Milwaukee Brewers affiliate) hitless for 3 2/3 innings prior to Lucas Erceg’s single to center field. Bealsey allowed three total hits and one earned run with seven strikeouts and one walk in four innings. He left the game with his Mobile BayBears leading 4-1. However, the Southern League’s winingest team rallied with a four-run sixth and pulled out a 6-5 victory.

Beasley, who was not involved in the decision is still 2-3 for Mobile and his ERA dropped to 2.80. In 35 1/3 innings in the Southern League he has allowed 29 hits with 33 strikeouts and 10 walks. His WHIP is 1.10 and teams are hitting .225 against him. Right-handed hitters are batting .190 with 20 strikeouts and six walks. Lefties are hitting .280 with 13 K’s and six walks.

For the 2018 season, in three different leagues, Jeremy is 5-7 with a save and a 2.81 ERA. His WHIP is 1.18 and in 102.2 innings he has yielded 93 hits with 100 strikeouts and 28 walks.

Jeremy tossed three more full scoreless innings. This season 73-of-his-97 full innings have been shutout frames- that’s 75.3% and for his pro career it is 76.6% (98-of-128).

Beasley retired the first six Shuckers he faced. In the first inning he struck out Corey Ray swinging on a nasty 2-2 slider. Troy Stokes Jr. looked a pitch in the upper part of the zone for a second strikeout and Keston Hiura flied out in foul territory in right field on a 1-1 pitch.

In the second inning Jeremy jammed Erceg with a 3-2 fast ball inside and induced an easy pop up to third base and then he struck out back-to-back batters for a second time. Blake Allemand went down on three pitches and Clint Coulter struck out swinging on a 2-2 pitch.

Beasley walked the leadoff batter in the third inning on a 3-1 pitch and then recorded the first out on a 5-4 force play. Luis Aviles Jr. looked at a 1-2 fastball and he was the fifth strikeout victim and then for a third time Jeremy strung together two straight strikeouts getting Ray for a second time.

Jeremy recorded the first two outs of the fourth quickly. Stokes lined out to third base and Huira struck out swinging on 1-2 fastball. Erceg broke up the Beasley no-hitter with two down with a single to center on a 1-1 pitch. Allemand followed with a second straight single. However, the inning came to an end on center fielder Jo Adell’s throw to third base which nailed Erceg.

In the fifth Beasley yielded a third straight single when Coulter hit a line drive to left on the first pitch. Jeremy threw a wild pitch advancing the runner to second base and then Trent Grisham hit a swinging bunt up the third base line. Jeremy picked up the ball with his bare hand and threw a strike to first base which was dropped for an error. After that Beasley was taken out of the game and reliever Daniel Procopio gave up a run scoring single to the first batter he faced and that earned run was charged to Jeremy.
