The Toombs County Bulldogs spotted the Swainsboro Tigers a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, from that point on the Dawgs outscored the visitors 8-1 in their 8-5 victory. The Bulldogs close their Region 2 schedule with their fourth straight win and for the second year in a row they win their Senior Night game.
Toombs started it’s comeback in the first inning senior Martin Stephens reached on an error scoring Chandler Lynn who got on base on a single. Stephens hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning to plate the second Bulldog run. In the fourth Martin doubled in a pair of runs with a shot to right field which tied the game at 4. Brock Harrison followed with a double to left which scored two more. Stephens has driven in at least run in each of the last five games for a total of 11 RBI’s during this stretch.
In the sixth Cole Graham’s grounder was misplayed by the shortstop scoring a run and then senior Kyle Knight drove in the final TCHS run with a single to center field.
On the mound junior Bryce Deloach threw 6 2/3 innings and allowed four hits and four earned runs with nine strike outs and two walks. He retired the Tigers three-up, three-down in the second, fourth and fifth innings.
