In their last three trips to Greg James Field, in Vidalia, the second inning has been the big inning in the Toombs County Bulldogs three straight road wins over the Indians. In 2016, in a 13-0 five inning victory, TCHS scored six runs in the second. In 2017 the Dawgs tallied five runs in the second in a 9-1 win and on Tuesday Toombs scored seven big runs in the second in their 14-9 triumph over the Tribe.
Trailing 1-0 going to the top of the second the Dawgs opened their game changing frame with Brock Harrison and Dalton McBride each drawing a walk. Chase Musselman drove in the first run reaching on a fielders choice. Trey Cloud made it 2-1 Toombs with a backside single to left field. Chandler Lynn drove in a pair of runs with a single to center. A fifth run scored on a Vidalia error and a sixth on a Brock Harrison RBI single to left. Dalton McBride drove in the seventh run of the frame with a sacrifice fly to center field.
Three Bulldog batters had multi-hit games and each hit a double. Bryce Deloach led the way with a 4-for-4 game with a walk and three runs scored. Trey Cloud went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI and Martin Stephens had a 2-for-4 game in his final trip to the Reservation with a walk, two runs scored and three runs batted in. Last year the senior first baseman went 2-for-4 at the V with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI.
