The last time the Toombs County Bulldogs were in Hazlehurst, playing the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets, was in late May in the GHSA State Semifinals. JD scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally and beat the Dawgs 9-6 in game 1 and then they rolled through game in route to winning the AA State Championship.
In the first 2018 regular season game between the two the Yellow Jackets once again scored six runs in a frame. This time they did it in the fourth in their 11-7 victory over TCHS. The Bulldogs are 1-6 in Region 2. Benedictine and Vidalia lead the region with 6-1 record and Jeff Davis is third place with a 5-2 mark.
The Lynn’s, Chandler and Dalton, plus Martin Stephens each went 2-for-4 and the brothers drove in three runs combined.
The Bulldogs had two crooked number innings. In the fourth they scored three runs and took a 3-1 lead. Seniors Kyle Knight and Willie Campbell each walked and Dalton Lynn singled to drive in the first run. Campbell and Lynn each scored on separate Yellow Jacket errors.
In a four-run sixth Knight and Campbell set the table once again. Kyle walked and Willie singled to left field. Noah Anderson walked with one down and Bryce Deloach doubled to center field driving in a pair of runs. Chandler Lynn’s single to center plated the Dawgs’ final two runs of the game.
